God’s Promises Are Not Dependent on Your Abilities

Immediately, Moses and Aaron bowed with their faces touching the ground in front of the whole community of Israel assembled there.  At the same time, two of those who had explored the land, Joshua (son of Nun) and Caleb (son of Jephunneh), tore their clothes in despair. They said to the whole community of Israel, “The land we explored is very good.  If the Lord is pleased with us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us. This is a land flowing with milk and honey!  Don’t rebel against the Lord, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. We will devour them like bread. They have no protection, and the Lord is with us. So don’t be afraid of them.” -Numbers 14:5-9

God is an overcomer. When the twelve spies went to view the land God had promised them only two of them came back with a good report. Joshua and Caleb saw the same thing as the others but they knew God would provide the victory as he had already promised them the land. The others didn’t put their faith in God but their own strength and abilities.

We will have trials buts it’s our perspective that makes the difference. God does not ask us to do what he’s called us to in our own strength or abilities. He calls us to surrender our life to him and to be vessels for him to work through us. When we put our faith and trust in God, it’s because we know he is good and he provides. Trials are the opportunity for God to shin, to show his love, grace and power. He has already won the victory we just have to believe in him to do it.

What blessings or promises of God have you held back or missed out on out of fear of your own ability. God’s promises are not dependent on our skills or knowledge, only our faith to believe he will do it.
