Represent Jesus

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.

Philippians 1:27-30

Would you act the way you act if Jesus were standing right next to you?

Regardless of the circumstance around us we are to represent Jesus in our words, in our actions and reactions.

No one said Christianity would be easy or popular, but it will change you for the better if you let it.

We may be surrounded by opposition but that does not mean it has to change us. One of the biggest ways to witness to others is to let them see that we are faithful to representing the character of Jesus, even in the roughest circumstances.

No matter if people are screaming at us and telling us, we’re wrong, we know the truth.

That God loves us and that He loves them too.

That truth can move mountains.

When we don’t falter during the hard times we show others what God has to offer. That they can have the same peace in the storm and confidence that they are loved, that we do.

When I was in Nicaragua I met a woman named Media. Media lived in a trash dump most of her life until the city forced her out and dumped her miles outside the city with only a few pieces of corrugated aluminum to build a shelter. They had moved her away from her income source (the trash dump) and given her no way to get back there.

But despite all this, when I met her she invited me into her shack and offered to pray for me. I was there to help her and she wanted to bless me. I was awestruck and blessed.

I have yet to this day to meet someone who so strongly carried the presence of God and had so much joy and peace.

Regardless of the circumstances around us or the lack of support or encouragement. Ehen we know God and His character and we will  represent Him to others.

He will give s peace in the storm and the confidence to love others, because we are loved by Him.
